At 1,000 ft. higher than the south rim, this scenic drive is often cooler; and, you should note, is often open later and closed sooner due to snow. The north rim is also less-visited, so traffic is lighter. This is a 200 mile drive from the south rim, but well worth the trip. From the north rim, you can head north and west to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
